Thank you for visiting my profile.  I specialize in grief, bereavement, traumatic loss, and suicide bereavement.  Since 2013, I have been teaching full time at the University of Montevallo where I teach the Grief and Loss Counseling class, the Counseling Suicide and their Families class, and the Crisis Intervention and Trauma-Informed Counseling class.  For fourteen years prior to beginning at Montevallo, I was the co-facilitator of the Suicide Bereavement Loss Group at the Crisis Center in Birmingham, and I have provided many trainings to mental health professionals about postvention and suicide-specific loss.

My private practice is now part time due to my teaching duties, but I maintain a very small caseload at my office each week.  Many of my clients are persons who are experiencing suicide specific loss, complicated bereavement, and/or traumatic losses.

No loss is easy.  I feel that it is one of my greatest privileges as a mental health professional to be with a client who is mourning and seeking any form of serenity after the heartbreak and vexation of the loss of a loved one. May gentler days be ahead for you and all who knew your loved one.

Related to the practical matters of making an appointment with me, you may contact me through https://judithharringtonphd.webs.com/ .  Due to the part time nature of my private practice, I can no longer administer health insurance claims, and payment is fee per session.  I accept checks, cash, and several credit cards for payment.   My office hours may vary from semester to semester.  Usually I can schedule a new client within one-to-two weeks.
