People may experience loss through a variety of situations including; death of a loved one, sickness, separation/divorce, change/loss of work/lifestyle/home, loss of a pet, retirement or loss of life direction and purpose.
It can be difficult to go to counselling, particularly for the first time. Finding a counsellor that you feel comfortable with is important, especially as you navigate through your grief journey. You most likely want someone that you can connect and feel safe with as you share details of your life, some that you may have kept hidden from others. I too, feel this is important. I work from a client-centered approach and believe that for change to occur there must be a genuine, non-judgmental relationship between the client and the counsellor. I seek to empower my clients, so they can build and draw upon their own internal resources and develop their coping skills to help them deal with whatever life challenges they face. I also have experience counselling children, ages 5 -17.
Above all please remember this… you are worthy and can achieve anything you set your heart and mind to. I would be honored to work along side you as you journey towards well-being.
I offer on-line counselling and support through my private practice, Matters of Heart and Mind.
