Services Offered
I have had the privilege to journey with people as they navigate, heal, and grow through/from trauma and grief as a registered social worker for over 15 years. Most recently my work has been in the areas of critical illness, trauma and neurosurgery; helping people face life threatening and altering diagnosis and death and dying.
I have learned throughout the years how our bodies hold incredible wisdom to help us survive and heal through trauma. Through mindfulness and body oriented therapy, I help clients connect with those parts.
An actual trauma may have occurred and been survived, but symptoms such as nightmares and terrors may remain, making the traumatic experience feel very real in the present moment. Therapy helps explore strategies that help tap into the mind and body to ground us as we better understand how the trauma or symptoms of anxiety, depression, panic or grief maybe living inside us. We look at developing new strategies and pathways that maybe more aligned with clients values and sense of wellness. Some clients may use substances to help sooth the symptoms they experience often simply because they are too painful or uncomfortable to deal with. Therapy is a safe space to explore this aspect of your journey.
