GRIEF COUNSELOR DIRECTORY
How to Find the Right Grief Counselor
We suggest you start with a phone call. Let them know you found them through grief.com.
Ask them about their style.
Tell them briefly about you.
They may or you may ask to start with an initial meeting. In person is the best way to assess if you are a match.
Make sure you discuss fees, before you begin, so there is clarity.

I specialize in Grief and loss, trauma, traumatic loss, PTSD, anxiety and toxic stress, depression, mood disorders, relationship problems, and coping with illness.
I work with adults and couples. While I don’t treat children and teens, I have extensive training and experience in child bereavement and work with parents to help their grieving children.
I also offer help to adults who lost a parent as a child and, perhaps decades later, find there are memories and feelings to work through.
My training allows me to use many approaches and tailor the work to the individual. I do infuse my work with an understanding of the neurobiology of attachment, mental health, and trauma so that our work combines personal experience, healing and human connection with evidence-based approaches. Approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Interpersonal Neurobiology, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and supportive techniques for grief and healing.

If we are to experience love in this lifetime, we are bound to experience grief at some point. Grief is a natural response to loss, be that loss a physical death, the end of a relationship or job, or a phase of life. We can be at greater risk for complicated and prolonged grief when the loss is sudden, unexpected, or unresolved. Grief therapy does not eliminate our natural and appropriate response to grief, and it will not erase our memories; instead, it allows people to grieve with a sense of inner peace. Together, we can restore your sense of resolve and invite comfort to balance the grief.
