I am trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) which is a brief evidence- based psychotherapy that can produce dramatic improvements in a variety of psychiatric disorders, like PTSD.    According to W. Waits & M. Marumoto & J. Weaver, authors of scholarly peer reviewed journal in Current Psychiatry Reports,  “ART was developed by Laney Rosenzweig in 2008. Rosenzweig combined the eye movements used in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) with Gestalt techniques, metaphors, and a solution-focused emphasis, and found that patients could often achieve resolution of their issues in just a few sessions.”

The therapist directs the patient to visualize a distressing event or a representative metaphor and helps the patient process his or her associated somatic sensations.

“Due to the constant forward momentum of the ART protocol, patients do not have to experience troubling memories for a protracted period of time.” Therefore, this modality is easier emotionally, due to the limited exposure of painful memories.

ART has the ability to help patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety, depression, grief, and other psychiatric conditions.

This modality uses rapid eye movements to work through sensations related to stressful and sometimes painful memories and flashbacks.

I incorporate motivational interviewing and mindfulness-based interventions into treatments for stress and anger management, addictions and grief treatment. My training is a mixed base of a cognitive behavioral (CBT), existential therapy, psychodynamic therapy. My work is grounded in a narrative reconstruction approach, a person-centered approach (Rogerian) with solution-focused therapy interventions.
