Services Offered

I offer coaching and peer to peer support to those traversing the difficult terrain of grief. It is my intention and honor to meet people right where they are and to walk with them, bearing witness to their process and hold space for all that it encompasses.
My colleague and I are offering a six week support group that provides a safe space for adults who have a complex relationship to the loss of their parents or primary caregivers who were abusive, addicted or struggling with mental health challenges. This loss brings so many complexities and can leave you feeling that you are the only one having this experience. We will offer you tools that include, writing, education, movement, creative arts and more to support you on this complex and often confusing journey.  You are not alone. For More Information, email me at debkiva@gmail.com
About me: My beloved brother died of early onset Alzheimer’s at age 55, my mother and father died the following year also from a dementia related illnesses. I experienced a great deal of childhood trauma and walked with those that caused me such pain through their death journeys. I have witnessed many loved ones die as well as being with a dear friend dying from cancer who chose the Right to Die option. I have brought these experiences into my life, starting a Threshold Choir (where we sing to those on the threshold of life), my little Hummingbird Choir, singing with those that suffer from dementia, etc. I worked for Laura Davis and Ellen Bass (authors of The Courage to Heal) where I  supported adult survivors of child sexual abuse. Between these experiences and my lifetime of supporting friends, family and acquaintances dealing with trauma and loss, I am honored to hold space for you. My lifetime of experience, Certified Grief Training and Certified Grief Movement Training – levels 1&2  bring depth, knowledge and connection to those in need.
Zoom or phone sessions and sliding scale available.
