Services Offered
I am a counsellor based in Hong Kong, with over 20 years of experience in mental health, offering sessions online and in-person. I am passionate about working with people in grief, and consider it a privilege to walk alongside them for part of their journey, and to facilitate the process of integration and meaning-making.
My approach to therapy is primarily strengths-based, person-centred, and trauma-informed. Where appropriate I draw from solution-focused therapy, emotion focused therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I endeavour to create a safe, non-judgemental space and work collaboratively with each client to navigate their thoughts and feelings at a pace that is right for them. I encourage the development of self-awareness, insight, and greater sense of agency in each person I work with.
As well as grief and loss, I have experience with a wide range of issues including: anxiety, depression, stress management, interpersonal and relationship problems, and life transitions.
I was born in the UK but grew up in Hong Kong, and completed my postgraduate counselling training in Melbourne, Australia.
My previous work in Hong Kong includes ten years with an NGO providing support to asylum seekers and refugees. As well as my extensive frontline counselling work with this vulnerable group, I have provided management, training and supervision for multiple teams of counsellors and social workers under the program. More recently I have worked with an agency providing affordable counselling on a sliding scale for the general community in Hong Kong.
