I am a certified ACNP therapist (Adult Children of Narcissistic Parents) and was also trained by world-renowned grief expert David Kessler to become a Certified Grief Educator. I have extensive education in trauma-informed therapy modalities and was trained at the Parnell Institute in Attachment-Focused EMDR by leading EMDR expert Laurel Parnell. I also trained at the Pacific Gestalt Institute and the American Couples and Sex Therapy Association.

I am a licensed therapist with over 15 years experience. I approach my work with clients from a trauma-informed perspective and bring a strong sense of compassion that is rooted in the belief that everyone’s pain is valid.
I work extensively with grief and all of the complex emotions that can come up around any kind of loss or unwanted change. Grief is a deeply personal and unique experience for everyone. I work to help my clients feel seen and supported in their grief journey and never judged to be further along or somewhere other than exactly where they are.
I specialize in helping my clients to understand and repair childhood wounds, heal from narcissistic parents and partners, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, grief, recovering from perfectionism and parenting. A large focus of my practice is helping my client’s to develop self-compassion to better understand themselves, their reactions and their relationships. I work to help people form a kinder and more loving relationship with themselves and to let go of self-criticism and move towards a place of love and self-acceptance.
Therapy can be a deeply personal and rewarding experience and I believe that it is essential for you to feel comfortable, safe and understood by your therapist. Kathleen worked for 15 years as an inpatient Psychiatric Treatment Coordinator/Social Worker & worked with high risk pregnancy and perinatal loss in a community hospital in Berkeley, CA. In 2009, Kathleen started a private practice to include cognitive-behavioral consulting and coaching. Kathleen is the Chair for the Chicagoland Hoarding Task Force and recent co-chair of the Hoarding special interest group for National Association of Productivity & Organizing Professionals (NAPO). Clinical areas of interest include gifted/twice-exceptional children & adults, ADHD, OCD, hoarding, chronic disorganization, creativity and grief.
