Grief is the heart’s natural and healthy response to the loss of someone you love, and the loss of a child is one of the most difficult and traumatic experiences there is. You’ll never stop missing them, but you can eventually find ways to have a meaningful life after they are gone. Along the way there are emotions and reactions that are hard to cope with, and it’s often a time of isolation and confusion. This workshop is designed to help anyone who has lost an adult child find their way through this time, and learn about the nature of their grief and the journey to healing. In this safe, supportive environment, you will develop a deeper understanding of your experience, and find comfort in knowing you are not alone in your suffering.
For those interested in continuing, six weeks of follow up small groups will be offered from July 31st to September 11th on Tuesdays from 1:30 – 3:00 at ICC.
Introductory discussion oriented grief group with handouts and guided discussion questions; six-week sessions scheduled periodically throughout most of the year

The Circle of Life Angel’s Message:
The Circle of Life Angel was created to assist us in working through our emotions surrounding the loss of a loved one to suicide. First and foremost, she reminds us that life goes on for all eternity … It just changes form.
To heal you must purify the way you look at what has transpired. Are you grieving from a place of love? Or are you grieving from a place of anger or fear? Are you crying because they are gone and you feel abandoned? Or are you crying because of the magnificence of them and all that they represented to you? … Two different ends of the same spectrum.
What often blocks the healing process is staying attached to the drama. We must allow others to make their own choices, not only in life, but in death as well. Just because we don’t totally understand a person’s motivation, doesn’t mean we can’t come to a place of peace about their decision to act in a certain way.
The Circle of Life Angel reminds you to stretch, to reach up and pull yourself up to the next level. To not be so “other” focused, but rather continue to move forward with what it is you are here to do. And to always remember to focus on what brings you JOY.
Our pets are important members of our family; they also serve people in many other situations. Service animals, companions, emotional support, to name a few. Their loss leaves us with with holes in our hearts like the loss of any other family member, and we grieve them equally. I am someone who has had this type of loss, and want to help others through similar situations. I hope to start a support group for those who are going through what I go through daily, and want to be there for others.
