I offer peer to peer support to those traversing the difficult terrain of grief. I have personal experience with traumatic loss, sudden loss, loss to homicide, suicide, addiction, child loss and pet loss. I also work in hospice and am passionate about end-of-life support for those who are dying as well as those who love them. It is my intention to meet people right where they are and to walk with them, bearing witness to their process and hold space for all that it encompasses.
I meet with clients via zoom, one on one, while providing a safe place to both guide and share.

The Koru Collective offers holistic, peer-to-peer online grief support on an individual basis, in small groups or through a monthly drop-in community circle. I also offer in-person workshops focusing on somatic practices and creating heart-centered tools for understanding and incorporating grief as we move forward in the wake of a loss.
The practice is rooted in the Koru Philosophy, Surrender, Trust, Do, which invites us to SURRENDER to our journey through grief, TRUST the process and DO for ourselves and others. The koru symbol represents the unfurling of a silver fern frond and the word represents new life, growth and perpetual motion. As we navigate our grief journey we are reminded to root into the earth and rise up to meet the light.
Together, we can create a sacred container to witness love, loss and grief. I would be honored to hold space for you and light the lantern that can bring you out of the darkness.
About Annemarie
Having experienced the tragic and personal loss of losing my love to mental illness in 2016, I embarked on a spiritual path to help me navigate the deep waters of my grief. I turned my pain into purpose and began helping others through their own journey through grief by sharing resources and spiritual tools and reframing grief as, simply, another expression of love. After some repeated nudges and whispers from the Universe, I could no longer ignore my soul’s calling to help others as a Grief Guide and I founded The Koru Collective in 2022.

I integrate the field of Health and Wellness Coaching based on positive psychology with Grief Education which focuses on emotional and physical needs of the clients/peers who are grieving.
I offer Grief talks through ZOOM/audio or video calls based on preferences for 30 mins to an hour.
In these sessions, my clients/peers and I have conversations about life and death which might bring awareness and clarity around these following topics: how to move through the pain while working through the feelings, how to navigate the daily life without the loved ones, is it possible to turn the pain into purpose, how to experience peace again!!
Conversations will be formed mostly by clients based on their experiences, their needs and expectations.

I am the editor of “Voices of the Grieving Heart,” an anthology of poetry, short essays, and artwork contributed by 83 people whose loved ones died. You can order the book from your favorite bookstore, or you can buy it from Amazon.
Poetry has a unique ability, even more than journaling, to help the bereaved feel witnessed. So often, we who are grieving the death of a loved one lack the words to describe what we are feeling and experiencing. In reading poetry by others, we can find ourselves in others’ experience. Their words give voice to our pain when we are unable to find our own words.
Writing poetry–perhaps with support at first– allows us to create a mirror on the page in which we can more clearly see ourselves and clarify what we are feeling.
I offer two different workshops:
1. Educate professionals who work with the grieving on how to integrate the use of poetry into their practice.
2. Work directly with a group of individuals, providing exercises and facilitation t help them begin the practice of writing poetry to express themselves without the strictures of normal writing or even journaling.
