We suggest you start with a phone call. Let them know you found them through grief.com.
Ask them about their style.
Tell them briefly about you.
They may or you may ask to start with an initial meeting. In person is the best way to assess if you are a match.
Make sure you discuss fees, before you begin, so there is clarity.

I am the Coordinator of a Faith & Grief Host Site in Pittsford, NY. We run 2-concurring 7-week small group sessions (daytime & evening) each Fall and Spring. I am also the lead facilitator for the evening program. Faith & Grief: A Ministry of Compassion & Connection is out of Dallas, TX. Utilizing many different faith traditions and spiritual practices, Faith & Grief provides a safe environment and tools for individuals as they explore their own faith on the their grief healing journey.
In addition to the Faith & Grief workshop, I am offering an original 6-week in-person small group in collaboration with Path Forward Creative Wellness and Charles Cote, LCSW. “Out of the Ashes: Reconstructing Life After Loss” explores grief recovery in a safe, therapeutic setting. Hello,
I am a loving, optimistic and heartbroken bereaved parent. Since 2018, I have been navigating grief as a result of losing a child. One step at a time I have managed to rise through the pain and face each day. Through patience, being kind to myself, being witnessed, accepting love and support, and expressing my feelings I have learned to remember with more love than pain.
Having been a health and wellness professional for more than twenty years, I understand the importance of addressing the emotional, mental, and physical aspects of healing.
I offer:
Safe spaces to express profound emotional pain
Physical movement techniques to ease muscular tension
Nutritional guidance
Private peer-to-peer support (in person and via telehealth)

As much as I’ve chased numerous “certifications” in thanatology, I consider the lower-case title of lifelong griever and my own losses to be the most important credential in my work as a Grief Tender.
I’m wary of so much of what passes for certifications, be that the coaching industry, where a weekend workshop somehow suffices for coaching expertise, or the old-school bereavement model, where grief has been pathologized and understood to be some one-size-fits-all equation. As Jan Richardson reminds us, “grief is particular.”
My approach to grief’s particularity is both consultative and creative. I lean in listening to your story and set an altar and a chair for your grief to make itself at home. I equip you with essentials for your grief backpack so that no matter where you find yourself on your journey, you’ll feel better prepared to meet the challenges. And together, be that individually and/or in community with other grievers, we map a way forward, so you feel seen, heard, and hallowed in your grief.

Chris is a health and wellness educator specializing in grief. She combines personal experience, knowledge, and skills she learned after the sudden and unexpected death of her adult daughter, Dana in January 2021. As an adoptee, she recognizes grief associated with members of adoption triads (adoptee, adopted parents, and birth parents).
Chris created “Nurturing Ourselves Through Grief” which focuses on how the death of a child (regardless of the age they died) affects parents, siblings, and grandparents. She recognizes how grief of this magnitude can affect all domains of our health and how we can find a path to wellness while still honoring our grief. As a grief educator, Chris:
-
offers support for those in grief as well as for those who want to support them;
-
educates others on how grief affects 8 dimensions of wellness (physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, financial, occupational, and environmental) and guides grievers on their journey to wellness;
-
believes people need support and skill development to more effectively heal places in the domains they choose to work on;
-
and provides supportive information such as affirmations, tips, and insights on ways to cope with and tend to grief on her Facebook and Instagram pages.
Grief absolutely affects our minds and bodies. We need care!
