Grief Support Group facilitation for Slay Society Inc.   We focus on supporting families battling Glioblastoma (GBM) Brain Cancer with care givers support, grief support and advocacy and references for information regarding GBM.

I am Cathy Carphin, writer, poet, facilitator, mentor, Grief Educator and Healing Trauma presenter of polyvagal practices. I have experienced the ups and downs of life including the trauma of a cancer diagnosis and treatment, being a home caregiver for my husband who had cognitive impairment due to stroke, his death, the isolation of COVID, my decision to retire and a motor vehicle accident.

My joy has been to receive counseling through my grief, to understand how these experiences impacted my internal wellbeing, to integrate these disruptions in my world, find purpose again and share my learnings with you.

I have been named Elder by my communities – a holder of history and wisdom. It is my privilege to support those who did not ask for nor initiate walking a similar path.

It is difficult to go through grief on our own; there are many resources on line and hopefully in your community. And it is often easier to know that many others have gone through and are going through the same experiences as you are. Often it helps to talk one on one with someone who understands and can help make sense of the impact on your life.

I have worked with school age children in group sessions with Grief Share.

I facilitate Grief Share at my local church in Bastrop, La twice a year a fall/spring session.   I have been doing this for approximately five years.
